Accessing the CITI Training Module
Steps to access the Research Security training through CITI:
- Click the following link: Research Security Training (citiprogram.org)
- Select “Log In”
- Select “Log In Through My Organization” (above the Username field).
- Type in East Carolina University
- Click on “Continue to SSO Login/Instructions”
- Enter your ECU username and password (do not include @ecu.edu to your username to sign-in)
- Select “Sign In”
- On the “My Courses” tab, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select “Add a Course”

- Select “Yes” under Question 11: Research Security Training (Combined), and choose “No” and “Not at this time” for the additional questions
- Select “Submit”
- Select “Start Now” to access the module
- The Research Security Training course should now be listed under “My Courses”

- Once you have completed the module, take the quiz
- After you complete the quiz, download your certificate
(Tip: Include the following in the name of your file – Your name, Research Security, certification date) - You will also receive an email upon completion of the quiz

Upload your Training Certificate in eTRACS:
- Log into eTRACS and access the relevant proposal record.
- Go to the Pre-Review Route & Attachments tab.
- Select “Add Institution Forms/Supporting Documents” to upload your certificate, categorizing it as “Other Supporting Documentation.”
For subrecipients:
- Log into CITI site with the CITI username and password you created when you registered to use CITI.
- Click “Add Institutional Affiliation.”
- Enter “East Carolina University” in the search.
- Check the “I agree” to CITI Terms of Service.
- Check the “I affirm that I am an affiliate of East Carolina University.
- Click “Continue.”
- Enter in the information requested by CITI.
- Click “Next.”
- See above instruction for answering the question to be assigned the Research Security Training.
