Research Summary: My research focus in the Broskey laboratory is on the influence of maternal metabolism on fetal metabolism and whether specific exercise interventions can help ameliorate conditions of metabolic diseases. Specifically, I examine the influence of aerobic exercise versus resistance training and analyze the effects on mitochondrial function. My dissertation work was focused on investigating the pathological defects contributing to skin fragility in two ectodermal dysplasias.
