Research Summary: Understanding the effects of movement on our bodies at a biomechanical, neurological, and physiological level is key to maximizing sports performance, injury prevention, and overall longevity in life. At the University of Southern California, my research aimed to understand the relationship between joint loading and articular cartilage health in athletic populations. Specifically, I quantified patellofemoral joint loading and morphology in females who have undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Currently, my research investigates the cognitive and biomechanical effect of fast boat exposure on warfighters. Ultimately, my work focuses on identifying factors contributing to subject specific joint and tissue loads, with the intent on maximizing human performance while minimizing injury risk and progression.
