Engaged Scholarship Grants Workshops

The OER provides workshops to inform campus members and community partners about community engaged research projects.

ESGA Workshop 1: Resources for Community Engaged Scholarship

In this session, university administrators and staff provided an overview of funding databases and search strategies. Participants consulted with staff and administrations from ECU Libraries, the Office of Research, Economic Development, and Engagement, and other pre-award grants staff to search funding opportunities for individual projects. Participants learned to read and respond to requests for proposals and left with a list of opportunities that could be developed into proposals to support community engaged scholarship projects.

ESGA Workshop 2: Grant Mechanics and Myths

Staff from the Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement discussed the myths and challenges of grant submission and management. Specific attention was given to how to route proposals through the Office of Sponsored Programs facilities and administration policy, and institutional support for extramural funding. Emphasis was placed on fundamentals of proposal writing. At the end of the session, participants had an outline for a funding narrative based on advice and feedback from ECU faculty and staff who have been successful at garnering grant funding.
