Revised IRB Fee Schedule for Industry sponsored human research: EFFECTIVE 7-1-2024

The UMCIRB office fee schedule has been revised.  These fees have remained unchanged since 2008, but will be as follows beginning with new Industry-sponsored research studies approved after 7/1/2024:

Existing UMCIRB Fee Schedule:
$2,000, Initial Reviews
$1,000, Continuing Reviews
$500, Sponsor-generated amendments requiring review by the convened IRB
$500, PI generated amendments (where there is sponsorship) requiring review by the convened IRB

UMCIRB Fee Schedule—beginning 7/1/24:
$2,500, Initial Reviews
$1,250, Continuing Reviews
$625, Sponsor-generated amendments requiring review by the convened IRB
$625, PI generated amendments (where there is sponsorship) requiring review by the convened IRB
$1500, External IRB applications

The fee for External IRB submissions is a one-time fee due upon initial UMCIRB office confirmation within ePIRATE.  As with all required IRB fees, if the account from which fees will be paid is not established upon IRB approval or External IRB confirmation, the department should charge the fee to a non-sponsored account and the charge may be transferred to the sponsored fund, once the award has been established in the financial system.  However, the fee cannot be charged to a different sponsored fund.
