Research Summary
I am a marine ecologist/data scientist interested in understanding the factors that influence the dispersal and population persistence of fishes. At ECU, I’m working with Dr. Rebecca Asch and others to examine how changes in the ocean environment affect the timing and distribution of larval fish from Baja, Mexico all the way up to the Gulf of Alaska! We’re interested in seeing how fish from different habitats and survival strategies respond to changing ocean conditions. I completed my PhD at the University of California, Santa Cruz (advisors Dr. Rita Mehta and Dr. M. Tim Tinker). In my PhD work, I used a variety of tools to examine population persistence of marine eels (and little baby fish off California), including genetics, skin coloration, and body shape.
