Research Summary
Medicinal chemist plays a crucial role in the drug discovery process through the Design, Selection and Synthesis of compounds that establish structure–activity relationships and to achieve potency and safety in preclinical animal testing, with the goal of maximizing efficacy while minimizing side effects. Our current goal is to apply a combination of organic synthesis, chemical biology, computational approaches like molecular modeling, pharmacology, cellular imaging, and mouse genetics approaches to investigate the deregulation of Rho family small GTPases in Alzheimer’s disease. We also explore regulation of Rho GTPase signaling in the anti-cancer drug induced neurodegeneration and regeneration.
