ECU has made a commitment to be in the Top 3 of all UNC System institutions in sponsored awards. This includes new and continuation awards for research, clinical trials, creative activities, outreach and engagement (sponsored awards), and professional service contracts (service awards). Interdisciplinary research projects are indicative of our efforts to maximize faculty expertise from across the university to better address pressing issues facing our region and nation. Note that the awards presented are generally only reported for the actual year. As an example, in 2019 ECU may receive a $3 million award for a project lasting 3-years. We only report $1 million each year. Therefore, $1 million will be included in FY 2019 and another $1 million in FYs 2020 and 2021. ECU’s fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30 each year.
