Tax Exempt and Nonprofit Status
ECU is a nonprofit tax exempt entity – an instrumentality of the State of North Carolina. The university itself is not a 501(c)3 organization, but is tax exempt under a separate part of the IRS code and manages a foundation that does have 501(c)3 status.
Some sponsors require documentation of ECU’s tax status. Please use the documentation provided below. If the proposal must be submitted by a 501(c)3 entity, please contact the ORA for further assistance.
