ECU Celebrates Champ

East Carolina University faculty members and staff celebrated Jitka Virag on April 24 for winning the fan vote in the 2018 STAT Madness Challenge.

Virag was pitted against 63 other universities in a March Madness inspired bracket challenge to determine the most innovative biomedical research project in the country. Along the way to victory, ECU and Virag defeated Stony Brook University, Georgia State University, George Mason University, The University of Michigan, Yale and Children’s National Health System.

This was the second year of the STAT Madness Challenge.
