Health Behavior Research Cluster Survey
In January 2019, the Health Behavior Research (HBR) Cluster launched a survey at ECU to help identify strengths and gaps in the university’s capacity to conduct health behavior research. The results of the survey provide valuable information that helps the cluster match research opportunities with existing faculty expertise, while also allowing the cluster to advocate for resources to build on its strengths and address gaps in the university’s research capacity.
Key Highlights
- Collectively, respondents report carrying out HBR in all 29 counties in ECU’s immediate service area;
- Physical activity, weight management, nutrition, and substance abuse were the most frequently identified research focus areas;
- HBR is being conducted with all age groups from newborns to older adults; and
- Rural and undeserved populations are a frequent focus, while interest in LGBT and immigrant populations is emerging but not yet prominent.
A dashboard of survey results is also available below with ECU login. The dashboard allows researchers to find faculty across various disciplines who may be conducting similar or complementary work. Follow the link below to the survey results dashboard.
