External Proposal Review Program
Total extramural awards at ECU set a record $85.6 million in 2023. By 2028, our goal is to top $100 million in sponsored projects annually. The new research performance metric from the UNC System encompasses all sponsored programs activity. Additionally, ECU is poised to become a Carnegie-rated R1 institution based on several criteria, one of which is research expenditures. For these reasons, faculty are seeking extramural funds to support their research, engagement, and teaching activities. Reviews by experts help to increase the competitiveness of proposals, especially those responding to federal and or high value opportunities. Therefore, the Office of Research Development is providing external reviews for select proposals.
