Dr. Marco Bottino, DDS, MSc, PhD, FADM

Dr. Marco Bottino is Associate Professor (tenured) in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree from Universidade Paulista (São Paulo, Brazil), his master’s degree in Nuclear Technology from the University of São Paulo, and his doctorate in Materials Science from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Marco received Young Investigator Awards from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and a prestigious Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award from the National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Bottino recently received the IADR Centennial Emerging Leader Award. He is a member of NIH study sections and has served and continues to serve as the PI for several NIH, foundations, and industry grants.
Dr. Bottino’s research focuses on the development of drug delivery systems for ablating oral infections, injectable scaffolds for pulp-dentin complex regeneration, personalized scaffolds for craniomaxillofacial bone and periodontal regeneration, as well as soft tissue reconstruction.
